World of Swing proudly presents the 9th edition of the international Rock That Swing Festival in Munich. The festival celebrates the diversity of the dances and music from the Swing and Rock’n’Roll era from the 20s to the 50s. Over a span of 5 days, fantastic dance nights, hot live music, shows, competitions, numerous workshops, and passionate dancers from all over the world create an inspiring and unforgettable atmosphere. More than 50 of the world’s best dancers teach during the day and perform amazing shows at night.
The highlights of this year’s Rock That Swing Festival are the two big proms at the fully renovated and elegant “Deutsches Theater” in the center of Munich. Furthermore two special events have their anniversaries in 2014: “Rock Around The Clock” turns 60 and the Lindy Hop pioneer Frankie Manning would have turned 100 years old. To celebrate those events the Rock That Swing Festival presents Bill Haley’s Original Comets (the fathers of “Rock Around The Clock”) and one of the prestigious Lindy Hop World Cups.
During the daytime, the Rock That Swing Dance Camp offers a vast variety of more than 200 classes in Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Charleston, Balboa, Shag, Rockabilly Jive, Authentic Jazz, Blues, and Burlesque. The class material comprises moves, lead and follow techniques, musicality and rhythm. Dancers at any level, from beginner to advanced and all the way up to teacher, can create their own individual schedule. So, what are you waiting for?

Zum neunten Mal präsentiert World of Swing das internationale Rock That Swing Festival in München. Das Festival zelebriert die Vielfalt der Tänze und der Musik der Swing- und Rock’n’Roll-Ära von den 20er bis zu den 50er Jahren und vereint Musik, Tanz und Show. Über fünf Tage hinweg schaffen stimmungsgeladene Abende, heiße Livemusik, Shows, Turniere, eine Vielzahl von Tanzworkshops und Tanzbegeisterte aus aller Welt eine mitreißende und unvergessliche Atmosphäre. Über 50 der weltbesten Tänzer unterrichten tagsüber und präsentieren abends fantastische Shows.
Höhepunkt des diesjährigen Rock That Swing Festivals sind die beiden großen Bälle im frisch renovierten, eleganten Deutschen Theater direkt im Zentrum Münchens. 2014 jähren sich außerdem zwei besondere Ereignisse: Vor 60 Jahren wurde „Rock Around The Clock“ aufgenommen und der Lindy Hop Pionier Frankie Manning wäre 100 Jahre geworden. Um diese Ereignisse gebührend zu feiern, präsentiert das Rock That Swing Festival Bill Haley’s Original Comets (die Väter von „Rock Around The Clock“) und einen der prestigeträchtigen Lindy Hop World Cups.
Tagsüber bietet das Rock That Swing Dance Camp ein riesiges Angebot an über 200 Kursstunden in Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Charleston, Balboa, Shag, Rockabilly Jive, Authentic Jazz, Blues, Burleske, etc. Es werden Grundlagen, Figuren, Führ- und Folgetechnik und Musikalität für alle Niveaus geboten. Ob blutiger Anfänger, Fortgeschrittener oder Trainer, jeder kann sich seinen individuellen Stundenplan zusammenstellen. Also, worauf wartest du noch?
